In the Forest

55% of paper produced across the world still comes from newly felled trees. Although paper recycling has improved significantly over recent years only 38% of paper is from recycled sources.
The majority of timber used in the production of paper is sourced from forest harvested timber, not from tree plantations.
The Pulp and Paper industry plant 2/3 trees for every 1 tree they cut down, but these manages forests have less biodiversity than true forests. Managed forests have 90% less species than true forests.
Most of the UK’s timber used in paper manufacture comes from Scandinavia. Only 5% of Scandinavia’s original growth forest remains. 100’s of plant and animal species are in danger and as a result, and the livelihoods of indigenous people are threatened.
The UK is the worlds 4th largest importer of forest products.
Digital publishing uses no paper, therefore involves no trees need to be cut down and no forest habitats are destroyed.
